What is Ukraine

Ukraine (Ukrainian: Україна, pronounced [ʊkrɐˈjinɐ] ) is a country in Eastern Europe. It is the second-largest European country, covering approximately 600,000 square kilometres (230,000 sq mi), and has a population of around 40 million people. It is bordered by Russia to the east and northeast; by Belarus to the north; by Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary to the west; and by Romania and Moldova to the southwest; with a coastline along the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov to the south and southeast, respectively. Kyiv is Ukraine's capital as well as its largest city. The country's language is Ukrainian, and many people are also fluent in Russian.

Ukraine officially declared itself an independent country on 24 August 1991, when the communist Supreme Soviet (parliament) of Ukraine proclaimed that Ukraine would no longer follow the laws of USSR and only the laws of the Ukrainian SSR, de facto declaring Ukraine's independence from the Soviet Union.

How Are We Connected

As first generation immigrants from Ukraine, our family has many relatives back in Ukraine.

On February 24th 2022 when russia launched the unprovoked attack on Ukraine our lives changed forever. Instead of peaceful conversation with our loved ones we were submerged into a state of shock, disbelief, chaos, and constant search for ways to get our loved ones to safety. It’s been an extremely difficult time for all, those who were able to flee and those who stayed.

The media coverage of the war in Ukraine subsided recently, but the war didn't. Russian army is  stealing the lives of numerous innocent people every day, and the brave Ukrainian nation is still fighting for freedom.

And of course we couldn't stand by.

How You Can Help

There are multiple organizations that help Ukrainians to fight the evil. Despite all the harm that Russian government has done, they did one thing that no one expected - they united Ukrainians all over the world. We stand together for what is right and do what we can to help those who need it now more than ever. And we ask you to be part of this fight with us, for global peace and balance.

Below we put together a list of volunteers that we either personally know and trust, or our close friends and relatives personally know and trust. They help Ukrainian fighters on the front lines, children and refugees misplaced from their homes, and animals that were left behind in Ukraine. Please pick the cause the closest to your heart. If you can't donate then please share this page, tell your friends, and pray for the nation. If you know a Ukrainian family - give them a hug, display a Ukrainian flag on your lawn or in a window, say "Hello, we are here for you". It might not seem like a lot to you, but it makes a world of difference to Ukrainians. These are extremely difficult times and we hope that you'll stand with us through them.

Russian Descendant vs. Russian Government

It is important to note, that Russian descendants and Russian government/military are not always the same. As much as we are repelled by the actions of the russian government and their military, there are many Russian descendants  that oppose this brutal unprovoked war, support Ukraine, and do everything they can to help Ukrainian refugees. We would like to ask all our clients and visitors to be mindful of this factors when they meet Russian speaking  individuals. Hate is not the answer, hate is what fuels Russia.  Hate is not us.

Glory to Ukraine!
